Thursday 19th November Ramos Pinto Dinner at Stanwell House Hotel

Founded in 1880 by Adriano and António Ramos Pinto, the house helped modernise Douro and Port through quality-focused production.
Ramos Pinto’s importance in the Douro lies not only in its age, but in its decision to pursue a strict self-production policy. The house produces its Port and Douro wines from grapes grown on its own estates, giving it unusual control over vineyard management, fruit selection and blending. This estate-led model allows Ramos Pinto to connect wine style directly to place. Its long-standing research into grape varieties, planting systems and terroir has helped shape the modern understanding of the Douro as a source of both great Port and serious still wines.

A graduate in Management from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Nuno Sampaio Maia further developed his expertise in wine through the WSET and specialised training in winemaking. At Ramos Pinto, he serves as Export Manager, overseeing a diverse portfolio of international markets, including Central and South America, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Deeply passionate about wine and the Douro, Nuno combines knowledge and sensitivity with a natural ability to communicate and build lasting relationships. The enthusiasm and authenticity with which he shares the history, wines and values of Ramos Pinto reflect his strong connection to the House and its culture.

Join us for a fabulous tasting menu paired with wines and ports for the Ramos Pinto estate and hosted by Nuno. Tickets will be available in the coming days but to register your interest please contact Stanwell House Hotel 01590677123.
