We’re delighted to introduce a new Burgundy producer to our shelves: Domaine Denis – a quietly impressive, family‑run estate producing beautifully expressive wines that capture the character of their vineyards without fuss or excess.
Based in the northern Côte de Beaune, Domaine Denis works with a light touch in both vineyard and cellar, allowing site and vintage to speak clearly. The results are wines that feel unmistakably Burgundian: fresh, balanced, and wonderfully food‑friendly.
Bourgogne Blanc Côte d’Or 2023 – £24
This is a terrific introduction to the domaine’s style and to white Burgundy more generally. Sourced from Côte d’Or vineyards, the 2023 vintage shows bright citrus and orchard fruit, with hints of white flowers and a subtle mineral edge. There’s real energy here, balanced by gentle creaminess on the palate.
An excellent all‑rounder: enjoy it with grilled fish, roast chicken, or simply as a glass on its own. At this price, it offers outstanding value for authentic Côte d’Or Chardonnay.
Pernand‑Vergelesses Blanc 2023 – £36.50
Pernand‑Vergelesses is one of Burgundy’s under‑the‑radar gems, particularly for white wines, and this bottling shows exactly why. Slightly more structured and complex than the Bourgogne Blanc, this wine opens with notes of ripe pear, lemon zest and hazelnut, followed by a long, mineral finish.
There’s a lovely tension between richness and freshness, making it a superb partner for richer seafood dishes, creamy sauces, or soft cheeses. A wine that rewards both immediate enjoyment and a short spell in the cellar.
Savigny‑lès‑Beaune Rouge 2022 – £33.50
Savigny‑lès‑Beaune is known for producing some of the Côte de Beaune’s most charming and approachable red Burgundies, and Domaine Denis’s 2022 is a textbook example. Aromas of red cherry, raspberry and subtle spice lead into a silky, elegant palate with fine tannins and bright acidity.
This is Pinot Noir at its most drinkable yet still serious enough to pair beautifully with food – think roast duck, mushroom dishes, or charcuterie. Delicious now, but with the structure to age gracefully over the next few years.
Whether you’re discovering Burgundy for the first time or looking to explore beyond the big names, Domaine Denis offers a compelling mix of quality, authenticity and value. These wines are available now, with free local delivery and nationwide mail order.
