Description
The ‘Frankenstein’ is a new conception, a wine that plays outside the rules of Alsace’s AOC system to create a novel wine that truly encapsulates the terroir of the Frankstein Grand Cru vineyard. It is a field blend of four different varieties aged in earthenware vessels – it cannot bear the name of the Grand Cru because blends are not permitted, so they named it Frankenstein.
Bold, complex and exotic, the nose presents layers of mango, pear and peach fruit, spicy ginger and vanilla and a hint of florals. The palate opens broad, with ripe and intense fruit notes and lots of sweet baking spices (nutmeg, cardamom) before powerful yet balanced acidity comes in to maintain the freshness.
